Dear Reader:
My name is Gary Young. In 2003, my wife and I built a new home in Toquerville. I was approached by a neighbor inquiring if I had ever thought of installing a Geothermal HVAC system. I'd never even heard of it. He took me to his house and showed me how his worked, how quiet and efficient it was. The cost of the Geothermal unit was a lot more than the conventional gas furnace and we were on a tight budget. I went to Zions Bank and approached our loan officer and started to explain why I needed more money. She was familiar with Geothermal and said there would be no problem borrowing more money. She said it was a good investment and would help sell the home later. We've lived in the home for 3 years now. I had Dave put in a separate meter by the unit so I could monitor the electricity used each month or day. Our home is 4400 sq. ft. and it heats and cools perfectly. It's very efficient so our electrical bills are very low compared to the neighbors. It preheats the water in the water heater which saves on gas. We put an electric filtering system in which helps our allergies from unwanted dust.

I love this system and would install one if we built again. The house temperature is very constant no matter the temperature outside. Dave and Kelli Charlton were excellent to work with. They answered all my many questions, and have been very good on customer service when it came to maintenance checks and getting the electronic filter added later. Three years ago we bought a new home that had Geothermal Technology installed. My wife and I were told by our neighbors, who had the same system, that it would save us a lot of money over other systems. After three years I can say that they were right. But like all systems you must keep it in good shape and know that the company that put it in will be able and willing to be there for you.

I can speak nothing but praise about Planet Geothermal that installed our unit. After being in our home three months we had a lighting strike that knocked the unit out. I called the office on Sunday morning thinking we would have to wait till Monday or later to have service. Boy was I wrong. Talked to a live person on Sunday morning and she said they would have someone there in one hour. A technician was right on time, he not only fixed the problem but showed me how I can correct it if it happen again. There was no charge. I asked for a yearly preventing service contract and they always call me to set up a time for check up. The technician is always courtesy and on time but better yet he knows my equipment.

Our new home is now already a year old so we have had a chance to enjoy our Geothermal Heating & Air Conditioning through all four seasons. It is as enjoyable in the summer heat as in the middle of winter. No blasts of air you wished would shut off. The temperature is constant and airflow hardly perceptible. The typical "rattle Trap" condenser outside are also not missed. We calculated our operating cost savings to be around $3,000.00 a year. This will amortize the initial higher cost of installation in only about 6 years.

I felt the need to send you a note thanking you for all the help you have been to my husband and I. My first call to Dave was the day after I got out of the hospital—my furnace was off. When I told him my dilemma, he said, "I'll be right out." The call was to Central. I could hardly believe it when my doorbell rang. He checked things out and in no time the house was warm again. About a week and a half ago, my husband thought there was something wrong with our furnace. I called Planet Geothermal, and as always was greeted by a friendly, human voice, not a computer giving me all those awful "options." Joya was most helpful and concerned. Because of the unusually cold weather, I fully expected to have to wait a day or two. She assured me someone would be out that day.

When 5:30 p.m. came and went, I assumed it would be the next day. Which was fine, as we have a wood stove for back up heat. However, at about 6:45 P.M. Jake showed up. As it turned out, Mr. Morganti was mistaken about our furnace. (Thank Goodness!) Jake reset our digital thermostat which we had never mastered, and for the first time since we installed it, the furnace comes on and goes off automatically!! Yay!! Jake is a very nice, most pleasant young man who knows his product and is an asset to a business that I am proud to recommend.
